Skyjacker specifically engineered a progressive variable rate coil spring, distinctively a 2-stage dual rate long travel coil. Spring rate progression is from a first Flex Rate to a second Ride Rate.
First Flex Rate stage delivers an exceptional ride with the ability to flex for increased articulation. Flex Rate expands during full articulation as the suspension drops (full droop). This keeps the coil springs seated in the upper coil mount/bucket and the tires in contact with the terrain. The Flex Rate is active at daily ride height.
Second Ride Rate stage only engages after compression past the Flex Rate. The Ride Rate allows consistent control and stability during heavy off-road suspension movement. Engineered to coordinate with the Gladiator’s distinctive suspension handling characteristics, the rear coils have a height and rate specific for each side.
Skyjacker coil springs are made from high quality 5160H chromium alloy and shot-peened to yield a higher tensile strength and longer life. Entirely compressed under hydraulic pressure, each coil spring is pre-set to get the desired length and travel. Presetting dramatically reduces any chance of fatigue or sag. Every coil spring has endured a cycle test to assure the very best in quality. A baked on powder coat provides an extremely durable protective barrier to prevent corrosion.
