Designed for 2015-2021 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 4WD vans, the factory front suspension relies on a MacPherson strut for damping, which can become insufficient once the van is upfitted for overland use or used to haul heavy cargo. Fabtech addresses this limitation by pairing a Bilstein strut with their high-quality cold-wound coil springs to improve ride quality and suspension control.
The coil springs are positioned around the strut bodies and provide an additional 1"-1.5" of lift over stock. This increased ride height improves ground clearance and allows for fitment of larger tires for off-road use, while also helping to reduce body sway on vans with full interior build-outs or heavy cargo loads.
The coil springs utilize billet aluminum upper and lower coil seats that slide over the strut bodies. These components are positioned at the correct ride height and create a secure, stable mounting surface for the springs.
To further enhance suspension performance, Fabtech has developed an auxiliary front shock kit to complete the upgrade.
The heavy-duty front auxiliary shock mounts are constructed from 1/4" thick steel and attach directly to the suspension subframe with no connection to the unibody structure. This subframe-mounted design is far superior to unibody-mounted systems, helping to isolate road noise and eliminate unnecessary stress on the vehicle’s body. Installation requires drilling only two holes, takes approximately 1-2 hours, and does not require any interior removal.
This auxiliary shock system with Performance twin tube shocks is an excellent upgrade for Sprinter owners seeking increased suspension damping, improved stability, and enhanced performance on highways and off-road trails.
