Mixing parts from different cars can either go hopelessly sideways or leave you with something even more impressive than what you can get off the showroom floor. Thankfully, the Bring A Trailer listing featured here falls firmly into the second category.
Listed as a Supercharged Bronco-Style Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, that's exactly what it is. Outside, you're looking at body panels, doors, and B-pillars sourced from a 1979 Bronco and an F-250 Crew Cab. But under the nostalgic skin is a chassis from a 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, along with its drivetrain and interior. Oh, and did we mention the 6.2-liter supercharged V8?
Yes, this truck is an odd but extremely desirable hodgepodge of various Fords, blending the best of old-school style with modern mechanicals. The truck was customized by Sweet Brothers Restomods in Upton, Wyoming, and their work has been rewarded by a bid that currently sits at over $123,000.
Outside, the truck has a retro red and white finish. The front doors had to be lengthened and it also comes with a chrome bull bar and a removable white hardtop. The wheels are chrome-finished and measure 17 inches.
They're wrapped in BFGoodrich all-terrain KO2 tires. However, a set of white aftermarket wheels with red accents are included in the sale and these look even better if you ask us. Fox Racing internal-bypass shocks are fitted, and it has 11 inches of front suspension travel and 12 inches at the back.
The modern interior is at odds with the old-school exterior but features like heated front bucket seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a central LCD screen are all welcome.
Under the hood is a 6.2-liter V8 with a supercharger supplied by Ford specialists Roush. The tuner also supplied a cold-air intake system. Power goes to the rear or all four wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox and a dual-range transfer case.
It won't feel or look like it from behind the wheel, but this powerful truck's title lists it as a 1979 Ford. According to the odometer, it's covered around 71,000 miles. While the current price could buy you a brand-new Bronco with all the extras and still leave you with change to spare, this restomod's X-factor is off the charts.
