Just a couple of weeks after getting our last good look at a prototype in the wild, we now know when Jeep's refreshed 2022 Compass will be revealed.

Citing several inside sources, Mopar Insiders reports the 2022 Jeep Compass will make its world debut at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition in Guangzhou, China next month. No exact date has yet been announced for the updated crossover's reveal, but the event will kick off November 22, running through December 1, so the big unveiling should be roughly a month away.

Of course, that only applies to one of the Compass's global variants; the US version of the 2022 Jeep Compass isn't expected to bow until sometime next year. Spy shots depict a Compass with updated exterior styling, including a massaged version of Jeep's signature seven-slot grille and slimmed-down headlights. Evidence suggests that even bigger changes are bound for the cabin; past encounters with camouflage-clad prototypes suggest that at least some trims will boast a massive tablet-style screen with the latest Uconnect 5 infotainment software, and a fully digital gauge cluster.

Under the hood, the 2022 Compass is expected to utilize the same 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine as the current model, good for 184 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque.

This engine is available with either a six-speed automatic on front-wheel-drive trims or a nine-speed automatic on four-wheel-drive trims. Don't get your hopes up for a manual transmission, however; that option was discontinued for the 2020 model year. According to Mopar Insider's sources, Jeep will also announce the availability of the Compass 4xe plug-in hybrid in China for 2022.

Currently, the Compass 4xe is only sold in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, but it isn't clear if Jeep plans to sell it in the US. Jeep also sells the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe and Renegade 4xe overseas, as of right now, only the Wrangler 4xe is expected to land stateside.
