And more improvements for the new model year.

The 2021 GMC Sierra and Sierra Heavy Duty just arrived, and although they don't feature the big interior update we were hoping for, there are plenty of improvements to talk about for the new model year. These trucks already boast some of the most advanced towing and trailing technology in the industry, but GMC managed to make improvements for 2021.

"Trailering is essential for pickup truck customers. More than half of our Sierra customers use their trucks to primarily tow equipment for outdoor adventures," said GMC Marketing Director Rich Latek. "We continually listen to customer feedback, which tells us they want class-leading safety, technology and comfort to tow what they need, whether it's a boat, an RV or a trailer hauling off-road toys."

Some new features include the trailer length indicator, which displays a red overlay on the trailer and shows when a vehicle may interfere with a lane change, and jack-knife alert, which alerts the driver if the trailer is about to hit the bumper. GMC also improved existing technologies such as the rear trailer view, rear side view enhancement, and cargo bed view enhancement.

For 2021, GMC will offer the MultiPro Tailgate on the SLE and Elevation trims and will add new colors to the available pallet. The off-road-focused AT4 trim gets improvements too, with new 20-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires and an off-road high-clearance step. There's also good news for diesel lovers, as the 3.0-liter Duramax inline-six engine receives a price cut of $1,500, making it just $995 more than the 5.3-liter gasoline V8.

As for the Sierra HD, the Denali trim level now gets a surround vision and bed view camera as standard. GMC will also add a new Black Diamond Edition (pictured above in black) on top of the Sierra HD Denali trim level. This new model adds unique elements such as exclusive 20-inch high-gloss black wheels and power-retractable assist steps. As with the Sierra 1500, the HD now includes wider availability for the MultiPro Tailgate; it even comes standard on the SLE trim.

The 2021 GMC Sierra arrives at dealerships in fall 2020.
