Tuff Country 18270 2" Leaf Spring Front

Skeptical at first, but did improve ride quality

john
First, skeptical that 3 leafs would give me better ride ( OEM was 2 leafs), price is right, so I ordered. When received, box had rattle, yep, shipping caused "C" clamp to break off. Caused by springs not bound together, striking each other. Took a hard impact to do it. Weight for 2 springs, over 70 lbs. Instead of sending them back, I welded the broken piece back on. being careful to keep heat from spring. "C" clamps are never utilized unless a leaf shifts sideways, so no biggie. Install was able to use OEM "U" bolts with these springs, still extra threads above nuts, torqued up OK. All done, pushed on bumper, very little movement, thinking O boy. Raised my 90 Suburban V1500 4x4, 3 inches. Not knowing what OEM height was, not knowing how much it sagged in 20 years. Yes, the old springs would bottom easily. Now for test drive down bumpy concrete road, lots of cracks, uneven concrete sections. Yes, it rode better. OK, for me, I am satisfied. Note, have to order bushing kit 91104 for front spring rear eyelets, OEM used 9/16" bolts for front springs both front & rear eyelets, I believe 88 to 91 old body styles, like blazer & burbs. I have quad shocks, I moved the inner front longer shock (aux ?), to the rear outer (main ?), with added washers & spacers to account for the missing shorter shock, that I did not put back on. Will decide after some use, If I need that other shock which will have to be around 22" extended. The OEM (aux ?) shock was about 20" extended. Next, will raise rear with 2" spacer and new 10.5" "U" bolts, OEM "U" is about 8". Will be adding the one inch arm spacer to level out the steering link somewhat, thou its probably not needed, did not notice any bump steer as it is.
