The Best Jeep Wrangler Years For A Used Model
A used Jeep Wrangler can be a great way to save. You don’t have to buy a brand new model to get trail-ready but may even find some already modded options to enjoy.
However, some Wranglers don’t deserve the faith you can typically trust in a Jeep. Some wranglers are lemons, so before checking out used options, learn which Wranglers can be trusted.
The Best Jeep Wrangler Model Years
Please note that we will be discussing options for a range of budgets. You don’t need to spend a ton of money to get a Jeep Wrangler model to fill your wildest fantasies. Your perfect project Jeep could be less than $10k.
The YJ and TJ Generations
Jeeps from the late 80s and 90s are pretty solid choices. The YJ generation was manufactured from 1987 to 1995, and the TJ generation was produced from 1996 to 2006. These older options can be found at lower prices, but are reliable options.
Most still perform at incredibly high levels because of their robust build quality. These Jeeps got upgrades such as roll bars for enhanced safety, better suspensions for smoother rides, the AMC inline-six motor, and more. They have power, speed, and capabilities.
An option with higher mileage may be scary, but take a look at home many owners the jeep has had. It may have been skillfully maintained for years by someone who loved it just as much as you will.
The Early JK Jeep Wrangler Generation
When it comes to Jeep Wranglers, JK means the opposite of just kidding. Well-worn JK Jeeps from 2007 from 2010 should give you some bang for your buck. These models will have fewer miles than older models but are still quite reliable.
These JK years have both two-door and four-door options. We know that the four-door models have a bad wrap, but these earlier editions are reliable.
Plus, these JK models had a lot of special editions, meaning you can get unique trim options and luxury models for lower prices.
These earlier JK options are also pretty close to having modern off-roading features and capabilities without breaking the bank.
2011 to 2019 Jeep Wranglers
The JK generation continued to be produced until 2017 and received some significant upgrades in the past decade, including studier axles and lockable front and rear differentials.
Plus, in 2018 in all-new JL generation was introduced with massive improvements compared to JK models. JL Jeeps are a little more convenient with a windshield that’s easier to fold down, tops that come off easier, and doors that are easier to remove.
In 2019 the Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon models were great and still are today. They’re outfitted with modern luxuries such as leather seats and 18” all-terrain tires.
The Rubicon features LED headlights, steel bumpers, and active safety features such as forward collision prevention.
However, these more recent model years can still have a hefty price tag. To save on a newer jeep option, go for a two-door model with a manual transmission.
