The Ford Ranger may be a relatively new offering in the States, but it has already started to prove the right move for the Blue Oval as its popularity continues to rise. To capitalize on the shiny sheen of the new-for-America model, Ford has been releasing some pretty cool special editions. There's the FX4 that is meant to be like a baby Raptor. Then there was the new Ranger Tremor, but Ford isn't stopping there.

Today, Ford announced the addition of a new special edition available as a package for the 2021 Ford Ranger XL called the STX. Before you dismiss this as something overpriced, the new package costs less than a grand.

The new STX Special Edition package is offered for the base XL Ranger at a pretty reasonable price of $995. This gives the Ranger 18-inch black wheels with machined-finished edges, dual-zone automatic climate control, silver interior accents, privacy glass, defrosting rear window, and the familiar eight-inch touchscreen infotainment display running SYNC 3 software. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included along with SiriusXM satellite radio and AppLink. For those who want more, you'll be pleased to know that the STX package can be added to Rangers with the FX4 or FX2 off-road package too. This makes the XL a much more attractive and enjoyable truck to use daily.

We quite like the way this thing looks. It's handsome without detracting from the rugged, strong aesthetic that a base model truck should have. The black front bumper especially looks at home with those black wheels and other dark accents while the usual placement of a sticker at the end of the tailgate makes the truck look just a little more sporty.

Ford's marketing manager, Chad Callander, says: "STX Special Edition hits a really compelling and affordable sweet spot for a lot of Ranger buyers looking for just the right combination of tech and style... at an affordable cost." We have no doubt it'll be very popular.
