Jeep Pushes Wrangler Luxury with Moab Trim

It’s no secret that Jeep is Fiat Chrysler’s cash cow. As a result, FCA is milking the brand for all it’s worth. It’s also no secret in the auto industry that luxury vehicles carry fat margins. Put the two together and you get luxurious Jeeps. Should Land Rover be scared?

The latest move is an upcoming Moab version of the beloved Wrangler, priced at an unreasonable $52,695, per an Autoblog report, which references JLWrangler Forum.

Available only in the Unlimited four-door body, plus with the Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 and 8-speed automatic, the Moab far outpaces the Rubicon on pricing. The trim is supposed to be a mix of pretty aesthetics and luxury, plus rugged capabilities, like Jeep blended the Sahara and Rubicon.

One of the most notable features is the 18-inch polished aluminum wheels with 33-inch BFG Mud Terrain KM2 tires wrapped around them. Tire choice is critical for off-roading. Selec-Trac four-wheel drive plus an anti-spin limited slip differential are standard, which are options on the Wrangler Sahara.

Among the luxury items for the Jeep Wrangler Moab will be leather seats, a Mopar headliner for the removable hardtop, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and blind spot monitoring.

To many Jeep faithful, the Wrangler Moab won’t be a “real” Jeep. It should sell well and make a lot of money for FCA, and that’s really the point.
