Could this test mule vehicle be the next 2021 Ram Dakota midsize truck or a 2021 Jeep Grand Wagoneer full-size SUV? Several outlets have arguments for both.

Thanks to Kevin for providing the images you see here.

Generally, midsize trucks are around six inches narrower than their full-size (half-ton truck) counterparts. This test mule appears to be just as wide as a new Ram 1500 truck, so the argument for the Ram Dakota midsize truck becomes less likely.

FCA recently made an announcement that they are planning to produce the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs. These big SUVs are supposed to be manufactured at a facility along side the Ram 1500 pickup trucks.

Indeed, this could be an early test vehicle for the Grand Wagoneer. The wheelbase of this truck appears to be unique, and there is a very interesting roll bar/cage in the back that extends from the cab to the end of the bed.

These images do not show underneath the truck very well, but there are other images of a similar prototype that suggest it may have independent rear suspension (IRS). This would make sense for a full-size SUV, as all of the competitors are moving towards the IRS design. GM Tahoe and Suburban prototypes are showing independent rear suspension also.

In any case, seeing this prototype is very exciting.
