Ford Shows Family SUVs Can Be Cool

Oct 18, 2019 by Jared Rosenholtz SEMA

Three popular models have been tricked out for SEMA 2019.

You'd expect an aftermarket trade show like SEMA to be filled with sports cars and supercars but in recent years, many of the displays have included trucks and SUVs. Ford recently showed a small taste of what will be at its 50-car display with a handfull of customized trucks and vans including the Ranger and Transit. Now Ford has revealed eight more vehicles that will be on display, based on three of the company's popular SUVs including the Escape, Explorer, and Expedition.

"There's a growing hunger for consumers to personalize their SUVs, which have a huge range of possibilities from lowered street rides to off-road Overlanding," said Eric Cin, global director, Ford vehicle personalization and accessories. "As the latest versions of Escape and Explorer continue to provide buyers with even more options for what they want, the aftermarket is a great place to see just how much more there is out there."

Among the Explorers, Ford is bringing three very different examples: the Blood Type Racing Ford Explorer Limited Hybrid (pictured in white), the CGS Performance Products Ford Explorer ST (pictured in gray), and the 2020 Ford Explorer customized by Prefix (pictured in red). Each offers a very different take on how owners can customize their Explorer to stand out in the school pick-up/drop-off line.

Ford will also bring out three customized Escape models: the LGE-CTS Motorsports Urban Ford Escape (pictured in gray), Air Design USA Ford Escape Sport Hybrid (pictured in white), and MAD Industries 2020 Ford Escape (pictured in black). Like the Explorers, the Escapes show off some of the wheels, performance components, and accessories owners can use to help their SUV stand out and perform better.

Even large families will be well-represented at the Ford Booth with two customized versions of the Expedition. The Good Boy Daisy LifeStyle Ford Expedition Limited MAX (pictured in blue) features a Whipple EcoBoost Stage 1 induction kit and Borla's touring exhaust to increase performance and 24-inch Forgiato wheels to increase style. Ford envisions this Expedition as a mobile recording studio for musicians so it is equipped with Zoom Q8 cameras, Sennheiser mics, and a QSC TouchMix 8 digital mixer.

The MAD Industries Ford Expedition Stealth (pictured in black) takes a very different approach with a weekend adventuring theme. It features a Whipple EcoBoost air induction system with Icon Dynamics Stage 2 coilover suspension riding on Forged FF-45 22-inch monoblock wheels with Nitto Ridge Grappler tires, making it perfect for daily driving and weekend off-road adventures.
