2021 GMC Canyon Has Two New Adventure-Ready Packages

The package includes a bed sport bar and some off-road lights - perfect for your next excursion.

While the GMC Canyon pickup truck and its bowtie-badged sibling, the Chevrolet Colorado, will enter the new 2021 model year essentially unchanged, brand new options packages are on the horizon as GM works to keep its mid-size trucks fresh and relevant in the midst of an all-new Ford Ranger. The latest: new for 2021, GM will offer a new dealer-installed "Sport Bar and Lighting Package" for the 2021 GMC Canyon, feeding into the lifestyle truck's sense of adventure.

The package consists of a slick-looking bed sport bar, likely similar - if not identical - to the one offered through GM's parts store, and some weatherproof off-road lights for maintaining visibility during your next dusk-time off-road excursion.

No doubt the new Sport Bar and Lighting Package will be a welcome addition to the GMC Canyon options list, as the truck has found a home with off-roading enthusiasts who prefer something a bit smaller and more maneuverable than the full-size Sierra.

Additionally, new for 2021, the GMC Canyon will offer a "High Elevation Package" that couples jet-black leather front seating surfaces with heated front seating, a heated steering wheel, and a power adjustable lumbar adjustment for the drivers seat. Those features already come standard on the range-topping Denali trim, but the High Elevation Package will make them available across a broader range of model configurations. This package will cost $1,400.

Pricing for the two new 2021 GMC Canyon packages is currently unknown, but were you to buy a bed sport bar and off-road lighting package for the truck through GM's online parts store, you'd be looking at a price tag somewhere in the $2,000 range.

This of course means that if you already have a GMC Canyon from a previous model year, and you want a bed sport bar and off-road lights fitted, you're not out of luck; you can always order the individual pieces from the parts catalog and have them put on at your local dealer. As for the heated, leather-upholstered front seats, heated wheel, and power lumbar adjustment - well, you might want to find a very good third party upfitter.
