2021 Ford Bronco: This Is Where And When It Will Be Revealed
An official confirmation must be imminent.
We've known for some time the reborn 2021 Ford Bronco is coming this spring. However, Ford has yet to announce the exact date and location. Could it be a major international auto show or at a standalone event somewhere out west where the SUV can demonstrate its off-road capabilities? It appears we now might have an answer. According to sources, the reborn Bronco will supposedly have its big premiere at the 2020 New York Auto Show this April. An earlier rumor claimed the reveal will be this June at the Detroit Auto Show, but June is definitely summertime, not spring.
Sources familiar with the matter indicate the exact day will either be April 7 or April 8. These days are reserved only for media and industry executives, however. The show will open for the public on April 10 until April 19. Ford has yet to make an official announcement regarding this report, though we expect a statement to arrive fairly soon.
Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz have already confirmed they will not attend this year's show in the Big Apple, and this could help focus additional attention on Ford's triumphant return to midsize SUV off-roading. Based on the Ford Ranger midsize pickup truck, the body-on-frame Bronco will be sold in either two- or four-door configurations.
Both will also share the Ranger's 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Expect somewhere in the neighborhood of 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Four-wheel-drive will be optional. Production will take place at the Ford Michigan Assembly Plant, where the original Bronco was also built. Just a few miles south of there is where the Bronco's most serious rival calls home. The Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited are manufactured in Toledo, Ohio.
Like the Wrangler, the Bronco is expected to be offered with removable doors and a retro exterior design. Sales are set to get underway at the end of this year. Also in the near future, the so-called Baby Bronco, potentially named Bronco Sport, will have its debut. Unlike the Bronco, the Bronco Sport will ride on a modified version of the platform underpinning the Ford Escape. Front-wheel-drive will be standard though we wouldn't be surprised to see a majority of buyers opt for the available all-wheel drive.
Looking even further into the future, Ford is also said to be considering a Bronco pickup truck that will be sold alongside the Ranger. The Jeep Gladiator, Ford believes, requires some serious competition.
