2020 GMC Sierra Heavy Duty Trucks To Be Priced Lower Than 2019 Model

GMC is dropping the price for the 2020 model year on the new GMC Sierra Heavy Duty pickups.

It’s no secret that trucks have gotten freakin’ expensive. A recent survey found that most truck owners think that modern trucks aren’t worth what you pay for them, and the price just seems to get higher every year.

So it comes as a delightful surprise that the 2020 GMC Sierra Heavy Duty will actually start at a lower price than the 2019 model.

According to a new video from The Fast Lane Truck, the lowest trim Sierra 2500 will start at $37,195--$1,500 less than current 2019 model.

To be fair, the reason GMC is able to drop the price of their heavy-duty pickups is that the 2020 Sierra will be available with a regular cab after only coming in a double cab for 2019. However, the 2020 model will still come with a host of new standard features, an all-new design, and a brand new engine in the lineup.

The 2020 Sierra HD will have a totally new frame and body that’s larger than the current model. That means more space on the inside thanks to a taller and longer chassis.

Under the hood is a brand new 6.6-L V8 engine with 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. The 6.6-L Duramax V8 turbodiesel is retained from the 2019 model, with 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque, but comes mated to a new 10-speed automatic transmission. The 6.6-L gas engine comes mated to a 6-speed automatic with no manual option available.

Prices are also dropped the 2020 SLE 2500 trim, which will start at $41,595, down $2,500 from the current model. The SLT, and Denali trims are both more expensive than the current year’s model (likely due to a regular cab being unavailable), and the all-new AT4 off-road trim is new to the Sierra’s lineup with no previous price.
