2020 Chevrolet Tahoe Discount Slashes Thousands Off

But is this the best Chevy can do?

The all-new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe has arrived though it won't go on sale until sometime later this year, most likely in the summer or early fall. In the meantime, the 2020 Chevy Tahoe is now in dealerships and the automaker is clearly gearing up to get rid of them before its successor arrives. Although there's still time, Chevy hasn't wasted the first month of the year to start luring bargain shoppers. This month, the 2020 Tahoe is being offered with a $3,000 cash allowance plus $1,000 bonus earnings. There are a few stipulations, however.

First off, those interested must be a GM Cardmember as of February 1, 2020. These bonus earnings are set to expire on February 3, the day any perspective 2020 Tahoe shoppers must take delivery by. This offer also does not seem to exclude the SUV from the employee discount offer.

Apply this offer to the cheapest 2020 Tahoe, the $50,295 1LS (including the $1,295 destination fee) and you're looking at a final price of $46,295. The mid-range 1LT begins at $55,095 while the top of the line Premier starts from $63,995. Chevy has not released pricing details for the 2021 Tahoe but we don't expect them to be dramatically higher.

This month's $4,000 discount is pretty decent but it's not amazing. Last October, Chevy slashed 2019 Tahoe prices by up to $9,276. Will the same thing happen again, only for remaining 2020 Tahoes, next October? Impossible to predict at the moment, but it will depend on whether or not 2020 model sales are strong or not.

But why would anyone want a 2020 model instead of the redesigned and far more premium 2021 version? Because not everyone desires to own the latest, but rather desire a solid bargain. Remember, the outgoing Tahoe is a highly capable full-size SUV with standard V8 power and a body-on-frame chassis.

Also, there's competition Chevy still has to contend with this year, namely the Ford Expedition and Nissan Armada. Not all Tahoe customers are brand loyal and they could shop around for the best deal possible. This $4,000 discount aims to keep them with Chevy.
