2020 Ram 2500/3500 Plow Rigs: Spied
With the all-new light-duty 2019 Ram 1500 recently revealed at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, we know the redesigned Ram heavy-duty pickup trucks will not be far behind. In fact, our spy photographers have been seeing some covered Ram 2500/3500s that are likely to have many of the same styling cues we've already seen. Here's what they've just sent us after spotting fully camouflaged HDs equipped with snowplows on Michigan streets.
"Previously seen Ram HD test trucks were captured on film running in mule form, with only camouflaged front ends, but the Ram HD prototype caught testing here has its body fully covered in camouflage, suggesting that more extensive changes are in store for the heavy-duty truck lineup. The frontal camouflage differs somewhat from what we've seen on the mules, indicating that bigger design changes may also be applied to the front end. The plow blocks a straight-on look at the prototype's grille, so it's hard to make any judgments about the nature of its redesigned face.
"One thing that is for certain is this prototype's heavy-duty specifications, with its eight-lug bolt pattern and different stance compared to the Ram 1500.
"Development programs for the 2019 Ram 1500 and the overhauled Ram HD have been running side by side at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles headquarters, but the HD program was reportedly pushed back one year, putting the all-new 1500 ahead of the curve. With these latest shots of the production-bodied Ram HD prototype testing on Michigan streets, we can now say that the 2020 Ram HD has officially taken a big step toward a production reality."

I wonder this spy test drive truck allow with plow from western because FCA did bought two or three. FCA can afford budget?
Great to see Fiat/Chrysler back in the game with regard to product development. Now it's time to bring back the Dodge Dakota.

I'm hoping that RAM will re-ignite the market for a compact truck such as the original Dakota, circa 1989, offering a V8, V6 and a 4 cylinder.
Not so much my own cup of tea, but the market is crying out for it.

The Dakota was never a compact truck. It came into the market as a 'mid-size' truck form the start. The craptastic Ram 50 was Dodges compact truck.

don't get hung up on labels. The 1989 Dakota is the smallest Dakota they ever built. As such that makes it a compact. It was scarcely bigger than an S10 or Ranger from the same era.
2020, so no changes, that is the pig nose grille, same head lights, same tail lights, same round wheel wells, maybe trying new diesel engine

That should require a whole new drive train.
They already neuter the current Cummins when you get a stick and they de-tune the first two gears in the automatic. More power at this point needs better transfer to the pavement.
They could slap an e-torque on it and get over 1000 ft. lbs. for 30 seconds....

Very faint. Backhanded even.
But I know you can handle a little ribbing.....
I like the "towing a trailer with a snow plow" test. It doesn't make any sense but it sure is creating maximum stress and a grin. Its like they listened to the crazy never happen in real life but lets do it anyway since it could, test it to the limit guy in the back for once.
I'm sure it will rust out, and $h!t out its automatic transmission like it has dysentery as all the past models have. Nothing but the same.
The 1-ton dually mule is clearly the old design over a new chassis. The SRW truck reminds me of a Chevy with the front end sag.
Stylistically, it looks like the HDs will again get a higher hood and bigger grille.
The SRW truck reminds me of a every Ford made since the year 2005 with all the sag. GM trucks don't sag in the front if you know your going to use something heavy on the front you crank up the torsion bars which will keep everything at factory ride height and angels which equals less wore and tore. Can't do that with Ford. You also need to replace the rear leafs on Fords if you want to put any kind of weight in the bed with out the headlights pointing at the moon. Any way the new Ram HD looks like their doing some great testing, none of the Guinea pig crap Ford pulls on poor paying costumers year after year.
All of those trucks have the current HD body, I wonder why they have so much camp on them. I wonder what they are testing??
They NEED to have the crosshair grill on the heavy duty trucks. Come on ITS ICONIC!!!!!!
The truck with out the trailer is squatting bad in the front from that plow lol Do they need a 1000lbs of ballast weight for these trucks. And for the person who commented on driving with the plow and a trailer, come to Chicago-land it is very common for people to leave the plows on all winter and still use their truck for work/towing.
Put some new LED tow mirrors on the truck
