2019 Ranger James Lipman for Ford Motor Company

Ford has issued a recall for the 2019 Ranger just a month after the truck hit the US market.

Just 3,500 models are affected in North America, 3000 of which are in the US and 500 in Canada.

Ford says that an issue with the position of the shift lever’s wiring bezel can cause the shifter to not lock into park, meaning it could come out of park without your foot on the brake or with the truck started. This could lead to the vehicle rolling away unexpectedly.

Ford dealers will relocate the wiring harness on affected vehicles to remedy the problem.

The affected Rangers were built at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant between June 4, 2018, and Jan. 9, 2019.
