2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 Diesel

Chevrolet Canada (and GMC Canada) recently added the new 3.0-liter turbo-diesel I6 engine to their main consumer online configurators for the 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 lineup. The new straight-six Duramax engine is starting customer deliveries within the next several months. Here are the least and most expensive ways to get the new Chevy diesel.

The output rating for the I6 turbo-diesel is 277 hp @ 3,750 rpm and 460 lb-ft of torque @ 1,500 rpm. It is mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission. For the Canadian market, the additional cost of the diesel engine and 10-speed automatic transmission is CA $3,150.

The diesel engine is available starting with the LT trim level. The double-cab 2WD truck with no other options is CA $49,725 before discounts. This is basically the least expensive version.

If you go for the largest and the most luxurious half-ton truck, it would be the crew cab with the longer (approx. 6.5-ft) bed. It would be a 4×4 with a High Country trim package. The starting price for this luxurious configuration is CA $71,230 before discounts. Naturally, you can add many more options to an LT or a High Country trucks to get the prices even further.

U.S. divisions of Chevrolet and GMC have not yet added the 3.0L turbo-diesel to their consumer sites yet. The EPA nor GM have published official MPG estimates for the new 3.0-liter. We also do not have official payload or towing ratings.

U.S.-based GM dealerships are already taking orders for the 3.0-liter diesel half-ton trucks. It’s somewhat unusual to order a new truck without having the precise weight and fuel economy specifications.
