Don't Panic: You CAN Still Buy The Base-Spec Ford Bronco

A sub-$30,000 Bronco is still available to order.

Last week, the online configurator for the Ford Bronco revealed that the Base trim option, priced at $29,300, had been removed, leaving the Big Bend trim as the new starting point at $33,785.

A Ford spokesperson has now told CarBuzz that the base Bronco is still available to order. Its disappearance from the Build And Price tool was a temporary glitch.

A local Ford dealer had suggested that this model was discontinued because they were unable to sell it at a preferable profit and that the trims just weren't as popular with the consumers. But Ford clearly has faith in the Base Bronco.

Fans of the badge are trying hard to acquire a Bronco, with some going as far as to offer a full cash purchase just to seal the deal. Ford does not detail its monthly sales into trims so there is no way to verify if the base trim is an unpopular choice. We suspect on a national level it's more popular than the dealer thinks.

The upcoming Heritage Edition will continue to keep Bronco demand strong with a white roof as a callback to the original model. Another appealing option coming soon for Bronco fans is the Everglades package.

This will help give the Bronco an imposing stance via extended wheel arches, a snorkel, off-road tires, and a winch connected to the front bumper. The reason for this is to provide customers with factory-installed off-roading gear so that they don't have to apply any unsavory aftermarket mods.

If it's strong performance that you're looking for, the upcoming Ford Bronco Raptor will probably be more to your liking. It's understood that this model could employ the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 currently found in the Ford Explorer ST with 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque or the F-150's 3.5-liter V6 which delivers a meatier 450 hp and 510 lb-ft.
